TNT Renews 'Falling Skies'

by Jean Bentley, posted Jul 7th 2011 5:00PM
Falling SkiesIt appears the alien invasion on 'Falling Skies' won't be resolved quite yet. Noah Wyle and co. will live to fight extraterrestrials for at least one more season, TNT announced today. The network ordered a 10-episode Season 2 that will air in the summer of 2012.

"'Falling Skies' is a true standout series, from its ambitious storytelling, high-profile cast and production team to its phenomenal success when it comes to international and time-shifted viewing," Michael Wright, executive vice president in charge of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies, said.

"We're reaching new audiences with 'Falling Skies' and look forward to seeing where this fascinating and exciting series takes us next," he continued.

The Steven Spielberg-produced show has become cable's no. 1 new series since its debut last month, drawing an average audience of more than 6.4 million per episode, taking all airings and DVR-ing into account. 'Falling Skies' is also a hit worldwide, and currently airs in the U.K., Spain, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela.

'Falling Skies' airs Sundays at 10PM on TNT.

Long live Falling Skies and I admit that I enjoyed the Knight Rider series on NBC as well, but I do have to say that from what I have seen so far this show will go much farther than the likes of The Cape, Knight Rider (the new series), Sarah Connor Terminator Chronicles, and V so I hope that this show stays on for a very long time because the reason most of the shows that I actually enjoyed are getting cancelled is people being too critical about what is on tv these days. If more people were critical of our government and the way our economy has turned out rather than being critical of what they call "bad, misguided" tv shows than we wouldn't have half the government problems that we have now.

This show is hokey, even stupid; saying it has bad writing would be a compliment. The effects are CHEAP and 3rd rate ... all of which is what I WOULD expect from hack Steven Spielberg. This guy had his 15 minutes of fame dragged on tooooooo long with Star(less) Wars already. (Samuel L Jackson, Bronx accent and all as a Jedi??? Slap forehead! )

Falling Skies has a CHEAP look, CHEAP feel, CHEAP effects, CHEAP actors and a St Vincent dePauls script. Noah Wylie couldn't over-act his way out of a wet paper bag, and thank god they killed off Steven Weber, another incredibly horrible OVER ACTOR! In fact everyone in this cast is horrible and should be working at Goodwill Industries learning a new occupation .... acting isn't working for them!

The writing is like a jigsaw puzzle, unfortunately the parts are from 100 prior Sci-Fi Alien's Attack the Earth TV shows and B movies with a smattering TV Westerns thrown in for good measure, all in the same puzzle box. Connectivity between personalities is non-existent and characters are absurd. Will Patton and Dale Dye are caricatures from Apocalypse Now. Everyone is sleepwalking through their parts. Wait, maybe they are actually asleep!

If it weren't that TNT is desperate for anything to put on the Boob Tube, this show would been canceled after episode 1, if it made it to even a Pilot screening at all. I'm sure that putting it on at 10PM Sunday's has saved it this long, since everyone is already asleep by the time it goes on the air.

This pathetic show make V look like the production quality of Titanic the movie.

Falling Skies gets 5 Burned Popcorn's and one well used snot rag rating. Please don't watch it, surely you have something better to do, like iron clothes or de-flee your dog?

Why wait another year? Nobody will watch it because they will forget about it. too bad

Only problem with this is that you have to wait another year before it continues. By then, many will forget the storyline.

I am glad to hear there is more of Falling Skies coming. I surprised myself at enjoying the first few episodes and will continue watching it. The basic cable channels are doing a better job of finding good series than some of the networks and they aren't as quick to cancel these shows.

Yes....too many new shows are cancelled before the season finale. I really like Noah Wyle as the high school teacher/alien fighter as I did as ER doctor and vampire slaining Librarian! TNT got it right with this and other shows on their network.

i believe MOACA is certainly much better the all the reality trash shows. I will miss seeing it. Although giving it such short seasons seemed stupid.
