'Dallas' Lives Again: TNT Orders New Series

by Chris Harnick, posted Jul 8th 2011 1:15PM
'Dallas' reboot is a go! TNT has picked up the series.

"TNT has explored the possibility of an updated version of 'Dallas' for several years, but it wasn't until we read Cynthia Cidre's outstanding pilot script that we knew we had the foundation for a great new series," Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), said in a statement. "It is incredibly exciting to see both new and familiar characters in the hands of a dream cast under the guidance of the enormously talented Cidre and Mike Robin. We couldn't be more pleased with how 'Dallas' has come together."

Dallas Reboot
The new series focuses on the children of the original Ewings -- J.R.'s son John Ross and Bobby and Pam's adopted son Christopher. Josh Henderson ('Desperate Housewives') plays John Ross, while Jesse Metcalfe stars as Christopher.

The two young men are involved in a love triangle with Elena -- played by Jordana Brewster -- and clash over the family's future. 'Veronica Mars' actress Julie Gonzalo also stars as Rebecca, Christopher's fiancee.

Original 'Dallas' stars Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray will all appear in the new series. Hagman told AOL TV he's signed to do the full season.

To coincide with the series, TNT has launched a new 'Dallas' website that will feature videos and behind-the-scenes extras.

Look for the new 'Dallas' during summer 2012, but a special preview of the series will air during Monday night's 'Rizzoli & Isles.' TNT has ordered 10 episodes of the reboot.

Tell us: Are you happy 'Dallas' is getting rebooted?

ACCKKK. Big miss. New John Ross should've been Joshua Jackson (yeah, I know he's already on Fringe...but the resemblance to the young Larry Hagman is uncanny!) http://michelles-self-imposedsabbatical.blogspot.com/2011/07/hello-darlin-my-personal-campaign-to.html

This isn't a reboot, I mean it takes place after the original series, continuing stories from it, I am pretty sure that's a sequel or spin-off.

DALLAS WILL PROBABLY BE BETTER THAN THE JUNK THAT'S ON TV CURRENTLY. AT LEAST LARRY HAGMAN CAN GIVE US A LAUGH OR TWO WITH HIS ANTICS.
