'So You Think You Can Dance' Results: Two More Dancers Eliminated (VIDEO)
In seasons past, the judges have split up couples in their eliminations, but that hasn't been the case leading into tonight's cuts on 'So You Think You Can Dance' (Thu., 8PM ET on FOX). Each week, they've cut a paired couple, leaving all the other couples intact.Even in the week when four people were eliminated out of a possible six, they cut two paired couples. That has to add to the pressure when competing as it must feel like your fate may be as tied to how well your partner does than how well you do.
But nothing in the rules says you have to do that, so would it continue as the Top 14 was whittled down to the Top 12? We have some strong couples, but there have been some instances where one partner has clearly shown more promise than the other.
!!SPOILER ALERT!!
When it came to America's vote, they went totally against the judges by putting Ryan and Ricky in the Bottom Three couples. Clearly, the strange fashion freak number didn't connect with the audience as well as it did the expert panel (and Carmen Electra). Joining them were Tadd and Jordan, who also received high marks for their smooth waltz.
America did get it right in sending Ashley and Chris to the bottom, as they were particularly disappointing in their salsa. It's interesting to note that both ballroom numbers wound up in the bottom, despite one of them performing strongly. Maybe the current 'SYTYCD' voting audience just isn't into this style of dance.
The judges were absolutely right to send Chris home, who gave the weakest performance of the night. But was Ashley more deserving than the other girls, or was she cut for being saddled with a sub-par partner? Once again, the judges voted along partnered lines and sent a couple home together. Did they make the right call this week in doing so again?
