'Rescue Me' Season Premiere: Tommy Shoots Up a Bar (VIDEO)

The final season of 'Rescue Me' (Wed., 10PM ET on FX) kicked off in explosive fashion. After a five month jump, we're treated to almost a full hour where it seems like almost everyone is going to be happy and smiling.Sheila and Janet are getting along like best girlfriends. We were convinced Sheila's advice about Janet not wanting sex during this pregnancy was some kind of scheme, but she was right on the money. How long can we really trust her, though? With that history, come on!
Everything was going well at the fire house -- hell, there weren't even any fires! -- and Black Shawn was ready to pop the question to Colleen. The only potential wrinkle was when Tommy found out Colleen was working at a bar; not the best idea for a recovering alcoholic.
To make matters more complicated, it was run by Mickey and Teddy. They assured Tommy all was well and that they were all still sober. In fact, they had AA meetings for the employees every night after they closed up, and Colleen was making great money.
Could everything really be rosy for this final season? No freaking way!
It all went downhill when Shawn took Colleen into the back room of the bar and got down on one knee. Suddenly, he looked unsure, and she looked unsure, but both said they were excited. Even after he walked out, Colleen squealed in delight.
But then she downed four shots and headed for the bottles of booze. We knew it wasn't going to be a smooth ride, and it certainly wasn't. No sooner had Tommy been assured his daughter was in good hands then he was back at the bar to collect his now passed-out daughter.
He had a few words of warning for the boys behind the bar, but after suffering a near-relapse himself, he decided actions speak louder than words, and started shooting up the bar as patrons fled for the exits. See, that's what this show is about! We may yet get a happy ending, but we're going to be dragged kicking and screaming all the way there.
