Christine Baranski Gets Beefed Up Role in 'The Good Wife' Season 3

Christine BaranskiReady for some great news about 'The Good Wife'? Well, not only does Season 3 begin filming Fri., July 15, but supporting player Christine Baranski will have a bigger role in the CBS legal drama.

In an interview with TVLine, series co-creator Robert King let slip some details on the grand plan for Baranski, who was just nominated for a Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Emmy for her portrayal of legal eagle Diane Lockhart.

"Because Diane was on the outside of this [Will/Alicia/Peter] love triangle, we felt like she may not have been as central to the plot last year as she will be this year," King told TVLine. "But Christine Baranski is someone who is going to be the core of one of the plot threads this year."

Baranski's lack of presence in Season 2 didn't go unnoticed: we included Lockhart in this AOL TV feature about characters who deserved more time on screen. Aside from her all-too-brief planned split from legal partner Will Gardner, Diane Lockhart was mostly a background player, rarely getting the main story.

So, just what's in store for the character?

"Diane is trying to figure out what is the next step in her life," King said, "and that will force a lot of issues at the law firm."

Tell us: Are you excited to see Christine Baranski get more to do as Diane Lockhart on 'The Good Wife'?

'The Good Wife' moves to Sundays at 9PM on CBS starting Sept. 25.

Love her. So glad she will get more time. What's more, I can actually understand her. More than I can say for
some of the characters who talk without moving their lips or opening their mouth. And, I'm kind of tired of Will. Yes, we3 probably need a love triangle to keep up interest, but he's a rather boring character.

The most boring character on the show. She's much better in comedies.

Great news! She may not have had that much screen time last season, but her scenes were very very memorable.
