It was a jam-packed hour of 'Big Brother' (Thu., 9PM ET on CBS) as Julie Chen presented the Houseguests with a message from Evel Dick and put Daniele in an awkward position. And all of this before the live Eviction and HOH competition.

Dick's message didn't offer any more details to what we already knew, which was that he left for a personal emergency not directly involving his immediate family. He apologized to Daniele for not getting to spend the summer with her, saying, "We seem to get along the best when we're on 'Big Brother' playing together, and that's a big loss in my life."

Back to the game, both Keith and Porsche were confident they had the votes to avoid elimination, but only one of them would prove to be right. And, despite the dominance of the Veterans so early in the game, it looks like the Newbies' day one alliance has already crumbled.

The Veterans voted unanimously for Keith, while both Kalia and Shelly shot votes his way as well. This would seem to be a win for the Vets as they've already begun working Porsche into their good graces.

We were glad to see them finally recognize that ostracizing themselves from the Newbies socially wasn't going to do them any favors. It looks like offering a branch of friendship, even if it was strategic, paid off.

Then, at the HOH challenge, Jordan -- with a couple of assists from Brendan and Jeff -- won the mini-golf competition and claimed continued game domination for the Veterans. The Newbies really need to step it up this Wednesday at the Power of Veto competition if they want to keep their slight advantage in numbers (even though it seems not to matter already strategically).
