'Sons of Anarchy' Creator Kurt Sutter Rails Against Emmy Nominations

Kurt Sutter and Katey SagalWhen the 2011 Emmy nominations were announced yesterday there were some surprises and some snubs. And don't say we didn't warn you: One guy who's not taking being snubbed lying down is 'Sons of Anarchy' creator, Kurt Sutter.

He's been letting it rip via a series of potty-mouthed posts on Twitter since the nominations were announced.

Despite predicting on Wednesday that 'Sons of Anarchy' wouldn't be nominated -- "Tomorrow morning I'll be the fat kid who didn't get picked to play" -- the lack of nods still seems to have annoyed Sutter.

He wrote, "Best part of not getting an emmy nod. now i don't have to pretend i give a s**t about the profiteering d*****bag academy ... because you know if we were nominated i'd be all humble and blowing smoke up their asses. now i can stay true to myself and just be a d**k."

Sutter's wife, 'Sons of Anarchy' star Katey Sagal, was not nominated despite being considered a strong contender, and Sutter satirized the machinations behind getting Emmy votes: "i'm having dinner with kathy bates," "i'm taking the cast of 'the killing' out for frozen yogurt." Bates and 'The Killing' actresses Mireille Enos and Michelle Forbes were all nominated.

He then took a potshot at 'Glee', tweeting "f**k glee. hate those annoying, 'please accept me for who i am', singing brats. there, i said it. are you happy?" Later, however, he clarified his remarks: "I love ryan murphy. he's always very cool with me. love glee too. just hate all the j*** piling up at its feet."

Sutter also joked about the nominations for the final season of 'Friday Night Lights,' writing that "FNL gives me hope. maybe S7 of SOA will get nominated -- when the guys have all become doctors and lawyers who sing in a f***ing choir."

Fellow cable dramas 'Treme' and 'The Walking Dead,' also failed to win over Emmy voters, and Sutter joked that "me, david simon and frank darabont are meeting at home depot to rent chainsaws and woodchippers."

But, in amongst the vitriol directed at the networks, the Emmys system and shows that were nominated, Sutter found time to see the funny side and reassure voters that he isn't likely to show up at their house: "you do know that i'm really okay with no noms right? if i was really upset, i wouldn't be ranting. i'd be plotting. i'm all about the love."

"i'm glad i promised my wife i wouldn't comment on the snub, god knows what i might have said."

'Sons of Anarchy' Season 4 premieres in September on FX.

I don't disagree. Sons of Anarchy completely deserves to get their due. Katy Segal more than deserves the recognition and it's a complete shame she wasn't even nominated. (Kathy Bates for Harry's Law, REALLY?!!) However, I will also point out that Sutter and other actors (NOT Segal) have, in the past, been incredibly sore about not getting nominated previously. They should follow Segal's lead and be classy about it. Sutter doesn't seem to have a gracious bone in his body. I say to him: you're a wonderful show that I thoroughly enjoy. But it's not like you're "The Wire." So until you can deliver THAT, AND learn to live without the recognition, learn to bite your tongue (no matter how hard it hurts). Be utterly and completely polite and gracious. P.S. in no universe would you ever compete against Glee. I thought it was an awful season too, but it's still not like they took your slot.

I love Sutter. He don't need no stinkin' Emmy. Even though he, Katey and the entire SOA team deserve more "mainstream" recognition than they get
