One Horrible Presentation, One Horrible Dish, One Elimination on 'MasterChef' (VIDEO)
It was a night of decadence and disaster on 'MasterChef' (Mon., 9PM ET on FOX). As the Top 11 competed in the box challenge, they discovered a second box with the judges; one that revealed four pound lobsters. Later, the winner of the lobster challenge chose truffles, and boldly chose to compete in the second challenge as well.!!SPOILER ALERT!!
Christian had perhaps the hardest time in the opening challenge, because he felt he deserved to be one of the three finalists. As only the finalists' dishes are actually sampled, Christian must have felt passionately enough about it to disrespect the competition by tasting his own dish.
After being threatened with elimination if he didn't stop eating and respect the process, Jennifer was awarded the win, and then chose truffles as the aphrodisiac food for the next challenge. Inexplicably, when offered a chance to sip champagne and watch rather than compete, Jennifer instead chose to cook.
It was an admirable move perhaps, but it also made her vulnerable to elimination. And so, of course, she struggled with her dish and found herself in the bottom three. Perhaps because of her boldness in choosing to compete, she was quickly sent back to safety, leaving Erynn and Adrien.
Adrien had one of the worst presentations seen yet. "It's like you got hold of my granddad and turned his colostomy bag on your plate," Gordon Ramsay said upon seeing it. "It's putrid."
But when it came to final decision, they turned to the men. "There is one dish worse than we've ever seen and I am giving that individual an opportunity to step forward gracefully," he said. Erynn accepted the offer to essentially eliminate himself after he burned his steak, overcooked his potatoes and then just threw together some vegetables topped with truffle butter.
The judges were encouraging to him in his departure, with Ramsay applauding his honesty and big heart, telling him, "Don't ever stop cooking."
