The Villains of 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' Invade 'Late Show' (VIDEO)

'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' - 'Late Show with David Letterman'After an infamous series of challenges and difficulties, the Broadway production of 'Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark' has been selling quite well since its premiere last month. Perhaps to keep people excited about it, and try to brush away some of that early bad press, the villains joined U2's Bono and the Edge, who wrote the music, on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS).

The cast performed a number that featured the Green Goblin, and ultimately had him introducing the myriad other Spider-Man villains that fill out the stage show. In the theatrical production, these villains were created by the Goblin, because that's far simpler than some of their true origins.

The costumes were outlandish and certainly brightly colored, as befitted a musical based on a comic book series, but it might have been too big for such an intimate setting. Or maybe it's intentionally a little ridiculous, like the 1960s 'Batman' TV series.

The audience seemed to be having fun and clapping along, though, which is what's needed to sell tickets. Reviews have been mixed, but they haven't slowed sales at all. This added exposure can only help the show's run continue strong.
