'Law & Order: SVU' Taps Kyle MacLachlan For Schwarzenegger-Inspired Episode
UPDATE 07/25/11: Paige Turco ('NYPD Blue') has been cast in the role of Kathleen Raines, the politician's fiercely protective wife. [TVLine]Kyle MacLachlan, known to many for his roles in 'Twin Peaks,' 'Sex and the City' and 'Desperate Housewives,' has been tapped by 'Law & Order: SVU' for their Arnold Schwarzenegger-inspired episode.
According to TVLine, MacLachlan will play Andrew Raines, a member of the New York City upper crust who is the subject of a headline-grabbing scandal. The character's wife, Kathleen, will be played by Paige Turco.
Look for the 'SVU' team to get involved when something happens with the couple's son, Tripp.
The episode is set to air early in the season.
MacLachlan is no stranger to 'SVU.' The actor appeared in a 2004 episode as Dr. Brett Morton.
When 'SVU' returns from hiatus, expect major changes in Season 13.
Stephanie March and Diane Neal will return as Alex Cabot and Casey Novak. 'Cold Case' actor Danny Pino and Kelli Giddish, of 'Chase' fame, have joined the cast as two new detectives.
Along with the additions there have been some departures. Series stars Christopher Meloni and B.D. Wong will not be a part of the new season.
Marsika Hargitay's Olivia Benson will become a supervisor of sorts within the police force.
'Law & Order: SVU' returns to NBC Wed., Sept. 21 at 10PM.
