Lily Tomlin Books 'NCIS' Role
It turns out Special Agent Timothy McGee's grandma is one funny woman -- Lily Tomlin is set to guest star on 'NCIS' to play the role.According to Entertainment Weekly, Tomlin will play Penelope in an episode that will air in the early fall.
"We are very excited to have the gifted Lily Tomlin join us to play McGee's grandmother," Gary Glasbeg, executive producer of 'NCIS,' said. "We know she'll bring extraordinary heart and pathos and humor to the show, and the cast and crew are thrilled to have her."
Look for the character to reveal some things about McGee's family that have been unknown.
Tomlin is no stranger to guest roles on some of TV's hottest shows. She's appeared in very high-profile roles on 'Damages' and 'Desperate Housewives,' and before that, on 'The West Wing.'
The 'Murphy Brown' veteran can also be seen in Showtime's 'Web Therapy' opposite Lisa Kudrow (Tuesdays, 11PM ET).
'NCIS' returns to CBS on Tues., Sept. 20 at 8PM.
