Mehcad Brooks Reveals the Secret to His Great Abs on 'Access Hollywood Live' (VIDEO)

Mehcad Brooks and his abs on 'Access Hollywood Live'Mehcad Brooks has the abs to be a Calvin Klein model, 'True Blood' eye candy, and to play a star football player on 'Necessary Roughness,' the new sports drama on USA. Many people admire those abs, and would perhaps like to know how to get a set just like them. However, we wouldn't advise you to follow the method Brooks mentioned Friday on 'Access Hollywood Live.' At least the first method he jokingly mentioned.

While Billy Bush did a feeble Rocky impression, Kit Hoover asked how Brooks got his perfect abs. "Four hundred years of slavery," he said. "I'm kidding! I'm just joking." Actually, Brooks said the routine is simple -- one thousand sit-ups a day.

Hoover would also like a shot at those abs, and jokingly played up her connection to Atlanta, where Brooks films 'Necessary Roughness.' He revealed that he is spoken for, but wouldn't give up more details than that. Did he mention 'Necessary Roughness?'

1000 sit-ups a day is waaaaay overkill and sit-ups are really not all that good for ab development. There are many better exercises. A hot tip is that SU's work the upper abs to the near-exclusion of the lower abs BUT lower ab exercises also work the upper abs, so concentrate on lower abs and get the entire package. Hanging knee-ups are a great over-all ab exercise, but the scientifically proven best excercises for abs and obliques are:
The top three ab exercises for your rectus abdominus (the long, flat set of muscles that stretch across the front of the abdomen) are:
1 - Bicycle Crunch
2 - Captain's Chair (a.k.a. Hanging Leg Raises)
3 - Swiss Ball Crunch
The top three ab exercises for your obliques (the long, flat muscles extending along the sides of the abdomen at an angle) are:
1 - Captain's Chair (a.k.a. Hanging Leg Raises)
2 - Bicycle Crunch
3 - Reverse Crunch
As you can see, some of these work both areas. BUT, you can do a million of these a day and, if your abs are covered in FAT, no one will ever know . Ab work will not burn any appreciable amount of belly fat, no matter what the infomercials tell you, so you need a good diet and well-rounded exercise program; not just an ab program. Working your legs will give everything a boost (actually help you build muscle in other areas), as they are a huge muscle group. Big legs will help boost your BMR, and get rid of even more fat.

"How to spend your day worshipping your flesh." I can't do 1000 sit ups a day, but I'll try for 100. So that's 34 sit ups in the morning, 33 when I get home from work, and another 33 an hour later. There's my new abs workout---Can I have my own page now, or a book deal?

Totally irrelevant; don't your reporters have other relevant stories to report on rather than this mundane drivel. Can't wait for the article showing some persons glutimus maximus and how they got it that way.
