Into the Dragon's Lair - Wednesday July 27, 7 PM ET, Animal PlanetTwo renowned nature cinematographers head into the crocodile-infested water of the Nile, armed with cameras and a spear gun, to try to capture the life of the crocodile while it's underwater. The 'dragons lair' of the title is actually tunnels through and under the papyrus reeds of the river, created by crocs and hippos, where visibility is basically nil. Their challenge is to get the animals on camera, in a way that's comprehensible for viewers, and not get injured by any number of dangerous creatures.
Also This Week:
Combat Hospital - Tuesday July 26, 10 PM ET/PT, Global/ABC
This episode has a bit of a 'Saving Private Ryan' spin to it, as seven soldiers brought into the trauma bays say they have a lucky charm in their unit, one Private Henry Flax. But his fate is unknown and he's clearly become a symbol for his comrades.
Rookie Blue - Thursday July 28, 10 PM ET/PT, Global/ABC
I guess I'm going to have to stop making fun of this show, since it seems to be serving its sophomore season and even thriving with a recent pick-up for a third season. The guest star this week is Lauren Holly. The former Mrs. Jim Carrey plays Gail's mother, Superintendent Elaine Peck, who gets involved when an 8-year-old boy is the only witness to a murder.
Jersey Shore Launch Special - Thursday July 28, 10 PM ET, MTV Canada
I don't know if Italy has any idea what the cast of 'Jersey Shore' has in store for it. I admit I don't really follow the show, but I know enough to say that at this difficult political time, when the US is viewed with suspicion by the world, that sending Snooki overseas is not necessarily the wisest move. Or perhaps it will simply confirm some widely held views. Regardless, the cast stops in Canada to promote the season launch. It's live, so you Toronto types may even be able to score tickets to this if you hang around outside the Masonic Temple on Thursday night.
