Sean's Homemade Baby Sling Terrifies Moms at the Park on 'The Big C' (VIDEO)

'The Big C' - 'Cats and Dogs'Sean is quickly turning into a favorite character on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM ET on Showtime). The schizophrenic, homeless-by-choice version of him was interesting as a foil for Cathy, but this medicated father-to-be is endearing and likable.

We love how he's embracing impending fatherhood, without forsaking the unique traits that made him fascinating to begin with.

His baby sling invention, for example, seemed like a practical and logical solution, but thinking that moms in the park would ever put their babies in something cobbled together with dish towels and hot pads was insane.

Sean even came through for Adam, who seems to be spiraling out of control in a way that is beautifully subtle. With Cathy so focused on what's going on with Paul and his job search, and her own issues with the new clinical trial, Adam is being left to fend for himself, and he's a sexually frustrated teenager.

Who wouldn't hire a dominatrix and then agree to whatever they say (actually that last part is kind of part of their schtick)? Sean was actually quite masterful in helping Adam settle that bill, but Adam needs his parents to check back into his life.

Maybe Cathy will be able to relax a bit more now that she seems to have found a genuine buddy in the guy she and Paul almost hit with their car. We were worried the show was going to flirt with another affair, and we're so over that, which made the revelation that he was gay even better.

'The Big C' has always been compelling television, but it's gotten so much stronger in its second season. Paul showed he can be the grown-up when he swallowed his pride and took a job at a big box retailer. How many of us can relate to that kind of career downgrade?

These people are living and breathing now in a way that we didn't feel as truthfully in the first season. Laura Linney was always fantastic and amazing to watch, so we're glad to see the rest of the cast and characters elevated to match her level of commitment and performance each week.
