Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick Cast the ESPN Movie (VIDEO)

Dan Patrick, 'Countdown with Keith Olbermann''Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live' was an oral history of the late night staple, and turned out to be very compelling reading.

More surprising was that James Miller and Tom Shales' follow-up book about ESPN was just as riveting, and even led to a movie deal. So Keith Olbermann and Dan Patrick decided to cast it on 'Countdown' (Weeknights, 8PM ET on Current TV).

'Those Guys Have All the Fun: Inside the World of ESPN' went just as deep into the inner workings of the little cable network that could, and because it's players aren't big celebrities, it makes sense that this one was optioned for film over 'Live from New York.'

Plus, the story of ESPN is a compelling one, and they've certainly had some interesting characters pass through there over the years, including Patrick and Olbermann. As for their casting, they got their best digs on Craig Kilborn.

Patrick suggested Ryan Gosling to play Kilborn in the movie. "That's a great idea. But he's too talented," Olbermann countered. He then suggested Jon Stewart, in an obvious not to Stewart's replacing Kilborn on 'The Daily Show.'

Patrick picked Jason Bateman to play himself and then suggested Ben Affleck should reprise his 'SNL' impression of Olbermann for the movie.
