Kirstie Alley Calls Letterman Out for All the Fat Jokes He's Told About Her (VIDEO)

Kirstie Alley, 'Late Show with David Letterman'It was all fun and games for David Letterman all those times he was cracking jokes about Kirstie Alley's weight on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS). Remember this one?

"Kirstie Alley joining 'Dancing With the Stars.' If you don't already own one, now might be a good time to get a wide screen TV."

Kirstie Alley does, and she brought notes of several of his cracks at her expense for her appearance on his show.

Letterman said he felt he had her implied approval, since she'd said "it's okay" about them on an earlier appearance. "I said it's okay, so that was like go ahead and tell 50 of them?" she asked.

He really had no come back for this, though he tried. "We do love you and if you were skinny we would tell jokes about you-- No, probably not."

Even if this exchange was in jest, and it surely was at least on some level, it does raise an interesting question about why weight joke are so acceptable in a society that's so sensitive about jokes that single out any other specific groups of people.

I just paid $23,98 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic Lumix GF 1 Camera that we got for $37,59 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 40 inch LED TV to my boss for $677 which only cost me $72,13 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, -->CentBite.çom<--

At least she is still beatiful, more than anyone could ever say about Letterman. Why doesn't he pick on Oprah?

Kirstie is a professional, with thick skin (no pun intended). She did have a cable show called "Fat Actress' and had no problem calling attention to her weight. She pretty much invited any jokes that she's the butt of.

That in no way excuses the horrible jokes, directed towards other overweight people nor people who have physical attributes that are considered undesireable.

Having said that, Kirstie looks fantastic. Hopefully she has found the method to maintain a healthy weight, which she has always said she hoped to achieve.

Joking at the expense of others because of a physical attribute is NOT socially acceptable. It is socially apprehensible and shows a lack of class. Kirstie should have put Dave in his place but she was too gracious. Why not make fun of amputees, bald people, men with small penises, old people, people who ethnically have large noses, homosexuals, etc., etc.,--when the insults hit a sensitive nerve, people want to rally--it's not acceptable to make fun of people for who they are or if they have disabilities. There are so many other things to laugh at-snatch those teeth out of Dave's mouth or poke Leno in the belly, see if they laugh. AH HA!
