Cameron Quits 'The Glee Project' Despite Ryan Murphy's Efforts (VIDEO)
Cameron Mitchell had been close to leaving 'The Glee Project' (Sundays, 9PM on Oxygen) before, and not of his own volition. But he battled his way back to become a fan favorite, only to walk away on Sunday's episode by his own choice, and over the objections of 'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy, who didn't want him to leave.Onstage to sing for his place in the competition, Mitchell said he was done. "I feel like that, you know, maybe this isn't for me," he told the judges. "Well how 'bout you let us make that decision for you right now?" said Murphy. "'Cause I don't feel like I'm willing to give up on you right now."
Offstage, Mitchell spoke with Murphy privately, and said he was emotional, but had thought about it and was ready to leave. "I'm sad," said Murphy. "I feel like I could have written you a role and I do think that you could have gone all the way to the finals, because I think you could have touched so many people." Mitchell was a bit shaken by that assessment, but he still left the show anyway.
