The contestants got a fun break from the competition on 'Hell's Kitchen' (Mon., 8PM ET on FOX) when Ben Roche and Homaro Cantu came over from Moto Restaurant in Chicago to show them some of their fun fusions of science with the culinary arts.!!SPOILER ALERT!!
After the demonstration of liquefying an orange with sound waves and freezing ice cream in 45 seconds with liquid nitrogen, the contestants had to get down to business. Science is fun and Ramsay wanted to see what they could do with the barest of minimums. So prepare a meat dish with water and fire only.
Right away, it was a mess in the Red kitchen, with Krupa cooking "veal," only to be told later when it was tasted that she'd actually cooked a filet. They then rejected Carrie's dish when they had to put one back to not be tasted, over Elizabeth's less-than-impressive prawns.
Ramsay demanded to taste Carrie's and announced that it was actually stronger. In the end, all the chaos in the red kitchen cost them the challenge by the slimmest of margins. If Krupa had known what she was cooking maybe they would have won. At least, according to Ramsay, someone in that kitchen should have known.
At dinner service, no whole teams were thrown out, but several individuals were. From the red team, Krupa was thrown out, later followed by the still-bickering Elise and Gina. On the blue team, it was Tommy and Monterray booted from the kitchen.
So, it was no surprise when the blue team put them up for elimination. Perhaps seeing her as more of the instigator, the red team put Elise up against Krupa. So out of Elise, Krupa, Monterray and Tommy, Ramsay chose to eliminate ... none of them!
He went back to the contestant pool and pulled out Gina, singling her out for her communication issues in the kitchen and eliminating her from 'Hell's Kitchen.' Do you think he made the right call? Are you ready to make reservations at Moto right now, like we are?
