James Franco on Actor-Directors Like Clint Eastwood and, Reluctantly, Mel Gibson (VIDEO)

James Franco, 'Late Show with David Letterman'James Franco is already an acclaimed actor, but he admitted on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) that he actually loves directing more. Don't worry, he's not going to give up acting. When have we ever known Franco to quit something? He just adds more and more to his plate and seems to thrive on everything he tackles.

"Now do you think that a person can have both skills equally?" David Letterman asked him, to which Franco insisted it was of course possible. Clint Eastwood came to mind immediately for both men.

But Frano was reluctant to laud the next name to pop into his head. "Hate to say it, but Mel Gibson's a pretty good director," he said. He did agree, though, that Gibson's antics in his personal life don't reflect on his abilities as a director, or an actor for that matter.

Those antics may reflect on Franco's ability to applaud him in public, though, which is equally understandable.
