Marg Helgenberger Confirms 'CSI' Exit
Marg Helgenberger, one of the original 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation' stars (can you believe it's been 11 years?), is leaving the popular CBS drama.Helgenberger appeared onstage alongside new castmate Ted Danson as part of the 'CSI' panel at the 2011 TCA summer press tour and announced her plans to depart the series.
When asked if this would be her last season as Catherine Willows, Helgenberger said "Yes." However, Danson and George Eads joked it wouldn't be her last if they had anything say.
Over the last few years, Helgenberger has made no secret about her desire to move on from the series.
In March of 2011, Helgenberger was said to be in talks only to return for a "handful of episodes." "The older you get, the more comfortable you become with who you are and who you are continuing to become," she said. "I'm looking forward to the next chapter."
Even earlier than that in April 2010, Helgenberger was coy about her future with the series. "My contract is up actually," Helgenberger told AOL TV, when asked if she would be returning for 'CSI' Season 11. "That's a good question. I haven't been asked back, so we'll see." She ultimately signed on.
