Ricky Gervais on Getting Emmy Nom for His Vilified Golden Globes Hosting Gig (VIDEO)

After Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes this past year, he was vilified in the press and by much of the Hollywood community. Apparently, he was too harsh and insulting to some of Hollywood's elite and they were not amused. But somebody was, and David Letterman was all too pleased to bring it up on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS)."For that performance, the man has been nominated for an Emmy Award," Letterman told his audience. Gervais was happy about it but conceded he wouldn't win.
Letterman's argument was that this didn't matter. In this case, just being nominated meant so much to that knee-jerk, super-negative reaction to what many others considered a great hosting performance.
True vindication would come, though, if he can pick up a Golden Globe nomination for the gig, though they'd have to make up a category for him. How about "Best Performance by a Host in a Hostile Environment."
