Sasha's Dancing Breaks Christina Applegate's Heart on 'SYTYCD' (VIDEO)

Christina Applegate, 'So You Think You Can Dance'The final six contestants took to the stage on 'So You Think You Can Dance' (Wed., 8PM ET on FOX), giving us yet another strong night of performances. But one performance early in the program had the judges all choked up, including guest judge Christina Applegate.

Sasha Mallory took to the stage with last season's runner-up, Kent Boyd, for a contemporary piece that simply wrenched at the heart strings. Sasha has always been a brilliant technical dancer, but Applegate did a great job of summing up the difference between technical brilliance and brilliance.

She explained that she sees dancers who can do all these things technically perfectly and "I don't care." But to Sasha she said, "you put your finger against a wall and you break my heart."

The wall was but one of several props used throughout the night, including a mirror for Melanie Moore and Tadd Gadduang later in the night and a chandelier that Tadd got to swing from with All-Star Ellenore Scott.

Caitlynn Lawson turned in a very impressive night, though it helped she got to dance against Pasha Kovalev on the samba. But she also closed the night beautifully with Marko Germar. Did Caitlynn manage to step above long-time front-runners Sasha and Melanie?

It's hard to say, but Melanie's opening hip-hop piece with Twitch wasn't one of her strongest, though she did a lot to redeem herself with that mirror piece later in the show and one of the most original and amazing solos we've ever seen. Even Ricky Jaime seemed to up his game, though he was expected to be great in contemporary with Jaimie Goodwin.

It may come down to how much people get waacking, which Ricky performed with Sasha. Both were exemplary in the form, exuding joy and physicality, but will America get the style in a meaningful way that will get them lifting their phones to dial?

With the finale next week, this vote couldn't be more critical!

this takes pathetic to a new level...pitiful entertainment. But the judges think this is so great so they say. After the show is over, they probably go out to a bar and laugh their butt's off....

Sasha excels at every style; Melanie looks like a boy or butch when she dances hip hop or anything than a pretty contemporary number where they dress her in a long white gown to cover her short fat legs and give her halo lighting and an angel song to dance to.

Sasha is, by far, the best dancer this year!!! She is fluid perfection. Melanie is clearly a former buff short legged gymnast who punches her leaps as if she is running to vault, but Melanie doesn't have the pure dance style or emotion that exudes from Sasha. The guys: No! Caitlin - obviously trained in ballroom before the show, but no one comes close to Sasha. Voters or whoever "writes the script: Get it right this time!!!! It seems that the best dancer never wins in this show. Would love to see Sasha dance with Brandon - who is the best dancer from all seasons of the show and he didn't win.

I enjoy watching all of the dancers, but honestly, I've never shed a tear during anyone's performance. I think more than anything, it's the song selection that affects people's emotions. Getting tossed or thrown around the stage during an emotional song isn't something that touches my heart. Personally, I think Rickie and Melanie are the best of the remaining six dancers.

If some of the dances don't touch you emotionally, you just don't get dance! It is the movement of a dancer's body, along with emotion they exude that makes the viewer react and the music, lighting, costumes add to it (or detract.)

I'm a corn-fed white girl & I love watching this show. Dance has NOTHING to do with race. Have you ever seen the Harlem Dance Troupe perform? How about the Bolshoi? Either one can move me to tears. If you hate this type of show & believe that it belongs on a channel you're not watching, then why on Earth did you bother to read the story?

If someone is not inspired by a dancer-regardless of any silly 'race issue' (this isn't 1970- and the people that actually bring 'race' into the conversation about wheather or not someone enjoy's watching a certain dancer dance, just shows their own ignorance and biases), then they just 'aren't' inspired-everyone is different, and has certain things that touch them specifically-Sasha does not inspire me-she is a 'good' dancer in my opinion, but not a great dancer, and her personality 'might' have a part in my opinion of her-at least I will admit that. Personally, I enjoyed watching her sister dance, and got much more joy from that. Being that we 'all' have different opinions, I think that 'Alex' is the best dancer, by far.

listen up judges....I have watched the show from the first season...PLEASE do not try to influence the voters by saying "you are my favorite"or "you the best".....let the people make their own decision....the performance was great ...but it didn't make me cry because she has some hidden burden somewhere deep inside....DON"T WE ALL????geez ..just stop it.....sasha is one of the best and belongs in the final ..but...noone dances like ..MELANIE..
