Tommy Loses His Temper During a 9/11 Interview on 'Rescue Me' (VIDEO)

'Rescue Me' - 'Brownies'Well things started off calmly enough this season on 'Rescue Me' (Wed., 10PM ET on FX), and surprisingly the fireworks aren't coming from Tommy's house, even though Sheila has become a constant fixture there.

Instead, it blew up at the firehouse after Tommy's interview went off the rails, and then aired on the news.

In reality, Tommy wasn't saying anything wrong, as the interviewer was asking questions designed to incite a negative reaction in him. He jumped down her throat at the thought of the FDNY being sexist and racist, then railed against the public perception of firefighters in general, before storming out of the interview.

Suddenly a hero piece about 9/11 turned into a piece about how some New York firefighters, like Tommy Gavin, may be in need of the therapy they've been refusing. And none of this went over well with the house, which suddenly found itself back in the spotlight with headquarters and the public.

A second blow-up happened out of left field, when Tommy went to visit Kelly. She'd just been declared cancer-free, but apparently wasn't sure what to do with that information. So she went on a destructive rampage in her friends' house, controlled Tommy a little bit and ultimately sent him home.

She sees in Tommy what would happen to her if she doesn't deal with all the rage and other emotions she's been bottling up since she first set out to be a "good cancer patient." It's a pretty apt analogy. It's hard to imagine Tommy finding some happiness by season's end, but we'd settle for some peace of mind. Maybe ranting on television is a step in the right direction for him.
