'Jersey Shore' Italy Nabs Highest Premiere Ratings Yet
America's fist-pumping arm is officially back in action: MTV announced today that the fourth season premiere of 'Jersey Shore' -- a.k.a. "a bunch of self-professed guidos take a free trip to Italy" -- scored a total of 8.8 million viewers for its highest-rated season premiere ever.Snooki, J-Woww, The Situation and the rest of the Macaroni Rascals drew a fraction fewer viewers than the series' top-rated episode (the Jan. 20, 2011 installment) with 8.9 million, but it was close.
The audience of 8.8 million was 4 percent bigger than the one that tuned in for last season's premiere, and the third-most-watched MTV telecast of all time. The top two? Why, other episodes of 'Jersey Shore,' of course.
The episode saw the cast members travel to Florence, Italy, where they'll GTL, smush, and presumably burn through buckets of hair gel before heading back stateside for season 6, which will take place at the familiar Seaside Heights house.
