Nicollette Sheridan Says She Won't Return to 'Desperate Housewives' For Its Final Season (VIDEO)
'Desperate Housewives' is going to take its "victory lap" for an eighth and final season, but it will apparently do so without one if its longtime stars. Despite a story in the Hollywood Reporter in which creator Marc Cherry said the character Edie could return to the show, Nicollette Sheridan said on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) that isn't likely to happen. When Kathie Lee Gifford told Sheridan about the report, Sheridan replied, "Huh. Well, that's news to me." It's not necessarily that Sheridan would be against it, she just sees a wee bit of a practical problem to solve. "I had an amazing time playing that character," she said. "I loved her dearly, but they killed her. She's dead."
Gifford suggested that Edie's death could be explained away as a dream. "What is this, turning into a daytime soap opera?" asked Sheridan. The living housewives have enough drama going on without having to deal with a legitimate ghost.
