Emeril Lagasse Joins 'Top Chef: Texas' As Judge

by Chris Harnick, posted Aug 9th 2011 2:30PM
Emeril LagasseEmeril Lagasse, a man known to enjoy kicking it up a notch or two, has joined Bravo's 'Top Chef' as a new judge. Lagasse and fellow new addition Hugh Acheson will join Padma Lakshmi, Tom Colicchio and Gail Simmons as 'Top Chef' takes on Texas.

'Top Chef: Texas' breaks the formula and takes on three Texan cities -- Austin, San Antonio and Dallas -- as opposed to one.

This isn't the first time Emeril has teamed with 'Top Chef.' The famous chef appeared in the Season 5 finale as a guest judge.

Promising "many surprising twists and turns and never-before-seen challenges and events," Bravo has yet to reveal the premiere date for 'Top Chef: Texas' other than the supremely vague "fall."

One of the surprises? Well, Pee-Wee Herman was spotted around San Antonio with judges earlier this summer.

'Top Chef' is going up against 'American Idol,' 'The Amazing Race,' 'So You Think You Can Dance,' 'Project Runway' and 'Dancing With the Stars' for an Emmy in the Outstanding Reality Competition Program category.

I work for DISH and wanted to state that DISH has things like DISH Online. This will let you watch live TV, DVR recordings, and, rent thousands of movies. This works out great international wise as well. You can still get to watch all your shows and things too. Take advantage for a great line up and great features when DISH has your back. Fantastic. Bam BS aside, Lagasse is an excellent chef and will bring some needed character to the show. Padma is stunning, and will never go. If you don't think so you're either a racist or not attracted to beautiful females.

Happy that Emeril will judge, but give Padma her walking papers. She has no culinary education or background, no personality, ugly, no talent and phony. She is not an asset to this show. She must have had some private moments with a Bravo executive to get this gig.
Stopped watching a year ago because of her.

Gee, I wish they would get rid of Padma Lakshmi. But even if she stays on Top Chef, for God's sake get her off of the cooking channel tv show, Melting Pot. She absolutely stinks as a cook and as one who attempts to teach others to cook. The few times I have watched her, I almost died laughing when she cooked an entire meal and then admitted that she had left out an important ingredient. But she told the audience, "Never mind, YOU can add it when YOU cook." She is just lousy on that show and I don't watch Top Chef anymore either.

I like Emeril but like the others, he is rushing around trying to recapture his popularity. Seems like Guy Fieri just swooped in and stole everyone's top spots with his triple D.

I'm trying to keep an open mind, but Emeril always wants it to be about Emeril. He doesn't always play well with others, and being one of five doesn't sound feasible for him.
