Jimmy Fallon said on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC) that he and his 'Late Night' staff didn't expect their three Emmy nominations, but were thrilled with them nonetheless. The show got nods for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series, Writing For A Variety, Music or Comedy Series, and Creative Achievement in Interactive Media. Fallon said the office was a love-fest when he walked in the morning after the nominations."We're proud of our show," he said. "We didn't think about it, that we'd get nominated for anything, we were just happy. But then when it happened, we got, you know, three nominations, I walked in, people were hugging. People were crying. I didn't even make to my office before I hugged like 50 people."
Somewhat ironically, Fallon thinks getting to host the Emmys, and bringing the act to prime time, helped boost 'Late Night's' visibility and contributed to the nominations. "I think that was a big turning point for our show, because a lot of people can't stay up that late," he said. "So when we did the Emmys, they gave us a shot to like show what our show's all about."
He also credited the show's website, and its online fans, for the success. "Our website, which is phenomenal, we do a lot of viral videos and stuff on there. I want to thank the Internet for taking care of us."
