'Back to the Future' Replica DeLorean For Sale on 'Auction Kings' (VIDEO)

DeLorean on Auction KingsWhere we're going, we don't need roads ... but we probably need around $50,000, give or take a grand or two.

This week on 'Auction Kings' (Tue., 9.30PM ET on Discovery), a movie buff called Video Bob brought in possibly the coolest car the show has ever seen -- a near-exact replica of the 1981 'Back to the Future' DeLorean time machine, with all the labels, lights and gadgets that the real car boasted in the movie.

The team brought in Kevin Pike, the Special Effects Supervisor on 'Back to the Future,' to assess the replica, and he was suitably impressed, declaring, "As far as all the replicas that I've had an opportunity to see, this one is the best that I've ever come across."

Pike predicted that the car would fetch $80,000 at auction. The seller wanted a slightly more modest $60,000 but, in the end, the DeLorean sold for only $55,000. It seems you can't put a price on time travel -- but if you could, you'd think it would be slightly more expensive!

I would have taken it to a specialty auction for cars, or 50 a Hollywood item auction like on Hollywood Treasures, he would have gotten a lot more for it.
