Jane Kaczmarek knows a thing or two about playing an outspoken mom on sitcoms. She's taking that skill she honed on 'Malcolm in the Middle' to NBC's new series 'Whitney.'According to Deadline, Kaczmarek will replace Beverly D'Angelo as mom to Whitney Cummings' title character. The Emmy nominated actress will appear on a recurring basis. D'Angelo played the role in the pilot episode sent to media outlets, but the scenes will be reshot with Kaczmarek in the role.
After 'Malcolm,' Kaczmarek moved to drama and appeared on TNT's 'Raising the Bar' as Judge Trudy Kessler.
Earlier this summer she appeared in an episode of FX's 'Wilfred.'
Elsewhere in the casting world, Bobby Cannavale is joining the cast of 'Nurse Jackie.' He'll appear billed as a special guest star for 10 episodes of Season 4. Cannavale will play a hospital administrator sent from the new bosses to improve All Saint's Hospital's efficiency and profitability.
