Seth MacFarlane Will Be Charlie Sheen's Roast Master

by Alex Moaba, posted Aug 11th 2011 12:20PM
If there's anyone with a wit sharp, dry and cutting enough to hilariously deconstruct Charlie Sheen, it's 'Family Guy' creator Seth MacFarlane. Comedy Central announced that MacFarlane will serve as Roast Master at the highly-anticipated Sheen roast set to air Mon., Sept. 19 at 10 PM ET.

MacFarlane has presided over more Comedy Central roasts than any other comedian, also serving as Roast Master to David Hasselhoff and Donald Trump. The Trump Roast pulled in roast-record ratings, and we're pretty sure the Sheen extravaganza will leave those numbers in the dust. Possibly Angel Dust.

"I'm very excited to work with Comedy Central again on the roast. Charlie is a true icon with a talent that is strong and pure and concentrated into small crystals which can be smoked or eaten," McFarlane said in a statement.

We've been wondering lately if MacFarlane isn't itching to get in front of the camera more often. We noticed him moderating the 'Real Time With Bill Maher' online-only 'Overtime' segment last week, and couldn't help but wonder if it was some sort of HBO hosting tryout.

Check out some highlights from MacFarlane's roasting experience to get a sense of what's in store for Sheen.

MacFarlane roasts Trump. Beware: the clip contains explicit audio.

MacFarlane roasts The Hoff. Again, beware of the explicit audio.

Seth never had this wit when he was a kid. Very quiet and introverted.

I agree there's too much vulgarity in movies and TV these days....As an actor comedian etc., you wouldn't make it in today's entertainment world if you don't say F--- everyother word . Most popular stuff all the reality shows...stupid, shallow that's worse than vulgarity. Comedy Central has gone overboard and the women are the worst...I'll watch Seth...love his humor. If you don't like satire...don't watch family guy or comedy central. I only watch when seth is on.

Hasselhoff, trump roasts were soooo funny. Seth did the best job on both. These are funnier than anything jon stewart or SNL done most the the time. If you haven't seen one with Seth you shouldn't knock it.

A formal Charlie Sheen 'Roast" is not necessary, Charlie is self-roasting.

What a total waste of time and money. I would not watch this stupid roast for anything. Seems all they roast are problem people.....Trump, Hasselhoff and now Sheen.
