Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb try horsemanning on 'Today'First came planking, then owling, now we have "horsemanning," the latest Internet fad where people take photos of themselves made to look like they've been beheaded. Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb talked about the trend on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), and gave it a try themselves.

"'Cuz what's more fun?" said Gifford of the concept of being beheaded. "Nothing," said Kotb. "Nothing. I guess it's like the Headless Horseman. Something like that." Gifford explained that the concept actually started in the 1920s, making it even older than planking, as they showed old photos of people horsemanning.

One person would lie on a table, for example, with their head dipped over the edge so you couldn't see it, while another person put their head on the table so their body was hidden. Between the two people, the effect is supposed to be that of a headless body and its discarded noggin lying nearby.

Gifford and Kotb actually got a request to try horsemanning from one of their Twitter followers, so they posed on the couch, Kotb holding a book over her head and Gifford leaning over the back. Gifford showed a bit too much of herself, so it looked like she was also beshouldered. That might disappoint horsemanning fans, but they will probably be on to the next photo trend by Monday.
