MTV Cancels 'The Hard Times of RJ Berger'

by Jean Bentley, posted Aug 12th 2011 6:00PM
The Hard Times of RJ BergerAlthough MTV's 'Skins' flopped in a big way earlier this year, its summer series 'Teen Wolf' performed well enough for the network to order a second season.

But times have not been so good to one of the network's less talked-about shows, 'The Hard Times of RJ Berger.' The show debuted to solid ratings in 2010 that have since fallen. Although it was brought back for a second season this spring, MTV has decided not to go ahead with a third season of the comedy.

'Hard Times' followed a particularly well-endowed teenager as he navigated the horrors of high school.

Co-creator Seth Grahame-Smith tweeted the bad news Friday afternoon, saying "Well, it's official. #RJBerger has been cancelled. Thanks to the cast and crew for two amazing seasons, and to all the fans." Variety confirmed the news.

As for MTV's other scripted series, 'Awkward' continues to perform well, while 'Ridiculousness' and 'Death Valley' will debut Aug. 29.

Really Enjoyed the show even though RJ's side kick... was right up there with NCIS' DeBozo and Royal Pains EVAN as the 3 MOST annoying characters on TV...and "mute or FF" is immediately required when their faces are on the screen..
That one Chick was HOT....

and other than the annoying sidekick, It was probably too much screen time for that "run over" skank chick rather than the hot chick...that doomed the show.

I kinda watched RJ Berger wasn't a show that had to watch every week. Good luck to all the actors & actress whatever they do next.

I actually thought RJ Berger was good, mostly in season 1. Season 2 got kind of stupid and the pregnancy thing at the end was horribly cliche. Awkward is like RJ Berger but with a girl, and hopefully won't get bad as it goes on. and seriously, everybody needs to find a new excuse for cancelling stuff because "ratings" is a cop out since they clearly aren't accurate. come on!

also, you say MTV's other scripted shows and only mention Awkward and not Teen Wolf.. as for Ridiculousness, that's just trying to cash in on the popularity of Tosh.0, i won't be watching it.
