The city of Ames, Iowa should be braced for chaos as the Republican party descends for the Ames Straw Poll, a fact that 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) was only too happy to document last night.

A number of 'Daily Show' correspondents reported live from "Ames" (or a green screen backstage) to highlight the different candidates' presentations, from Santorum's homemade peach jelly to Pawlenty's deep fried butter.

Sarah Palin, of course, was expected to make the biggest impact, what with her "attention-sucking vortex that threatens to consume every journalist in a thirty mile radius."

Just business as usual, then.
