Jacqueline's Daughter Ashley Makes Her Cry on 'The Real Housewives of NJ' (VIDEO)
Nobody's going to come out and say that the women of 'The Real Housewives of New Jersey' (Sun., 10PM ET on Bravo) are the easiest women to deal with. And none of them are perfect as parents or people. But Ashley certainly doesn't need to be quite so mean to her mother Jacqueline. She is, however, consistently rude to every one of her parents, acting like the worst kind of spoiled rich kid you could ever imagine. Now, we'll concede that staging an intervention to talk to her about her horrible behavior at a fancy public restaurant isn't the best idea. That said, the cameras might not have helped either.
Suddenly, Ashley has to also be concerned about what the people in the restaurant are thinking and what the viewers at home will think when they watch the footage. It's hard to have a real conversation and get her to let down her defensive walls when she feels like she has to "perform" for the audiences.
All young people do this, and at 20 Ashley is close enough to a teenager to suffer from that everybody's-paying-attention-to-me syndrome. Add that to her normal entitled personality and you have a recipe for disaster and Jacqueline leaving the table in tears feeling like a failure as a parent.
At least Ashley had the decency to cry a little bit around all that eye rolling and snarky commentary. She even had the audacity to say that she doesn't need to be grateful or appreciative of any of the sacrifices her mother's made over the past 20 years because her mother chose to keep her instead of putting her up for adoption.
Ashley definitely gets the award for saying some of the most horrible things. We can't help but wonder how she'll feel about these "performances" in a few years when she grows some sense -- we can only hope -- and sees the footage played back. We'll be hoping for some shame.
