Bill Tries to Broker a Peace With the Witches on 'True Blood' (VIDEO)

'True Blood' - 'Spellbound'Marnie AKA Antonia Gavilan nearly wiped out all the vampires in Bon Temps with her spell last week on 'True Blood' (Sun., 9PM ET on HBO). In fact, when the episode closed, poor sweet Jessica was in the thralls of her incantation and throwing wide the doors of Bill's home to bask in the sweet sunlight.

Recall that this is a terrible idea if you're a vampire.

Jason saved her at the last minute, setting up a love triangle between the pair of them and Hoyt that ultimately left all of them alone and miserable. Jessica might have rather been one of Bill's back-up agents when he tried to broker a truce with Antonia.

Unfortunately, the truce didn't go as planned, and Bill found himself captured, Sookie found herself shot -- though she did get to shoot her neat-o fairy blast again first -- and Erik found himself again at the mercy of Antonia. What on earth will she do to him this time?

Tara was there as back-up for Antonia, and I can't blame her after all she's suffered at the hands of vampires. But with a single command, Bill certainly made her life a lot easier by calling off Pam ... forever.

I was waiting for the more direct connection between Alcide and the Bon Temps denizens. He's clearly a principal character, and likely destined to take over the pack he just reluctantly joined, but I didn't expect his pack leader to be the baby daddy to Sam Merlotte's new lady friend.

But then again, 'True Blood' is really just a supernatural soap opera with more nudity and a bigger budget than its daytime brethren, so why should that surprise me? I am, however, with Sam on Tommy. He's a completely irredeemable character and I'm hoping something horrible happens to him. Credit where credit's due, though, his impression of Mrs. Fortenberry had me fooled for a bit. I just thought she was a little crabbier and crasser than usual.

As for that possessed baby, it looks like the baby may be innocent after all. It's instead a possessed doll. Which means we went from being worried about the baby to being worried for the baby, now that Lafayette AKA crazy-spirit-who-lost-her-baby has found a new one to hold and to love and to sneak out the door with.
