Chynna Phillips Joins 'Dancing With the Stars': Report

by Chris Harnick, posted Aug 15th 2011 10:05AM
Chynna PhillipsChynna Phillips has reportedly joined the cast of 'Dancing With the Stars.' How long before she dances to the Wilson Phillips smash hit 'Hold On'?

According to Perez Hilton, Phillips, daughter of The Mamas & the Papas' John and Michelle Phillips and wife to William Baldwin, will compete alongside rumored contestants Rob Kardashian, Queen Latifah, Snooki and Tiffani Thiessen.

'Dancing With the Stars' producers have been on the hunt to stock Season 13 with bigger name stars. As part of the rumored change, producers are reportedly offering stars complete control over the rehearsal schedules -- that means the stars have no minimum rehearsal requirements. Hello, trainwreck dances!

Phillips, one third of Wilson Phillips, is riding high on the wave of 'Bridesmaids.' The singing group made a surprise appearance in Kristen Wiig's critical and box office darling, playing themselves and singing during the finale.

Wilson Phillips revealed they were at work on a new reality project focusing on their 20-year reunion. "The show will be about our friendship and the music, and 20 years later the reunion, plus nine kids," Wendy Wilson told AOL Music.

The official 'Dancing With the Stars' cast will be announced live on Aug. 29 during ABC's 'The Bachelor Pad.' Season 13 premieres Mon., Sept. 19 at 8PM ET on ABC.

Recognizable people..George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Wolf Blitzer, Sharon Osborne, Tim Gunn, (LOL).
Problem is it's a big commitment and the big stars don't need the money. Hold a 'man/woman in the street' contest for regular people like the rest of us.

I thought this was "Dancing With The Stars"..........instead it's turned into "Dancing With "Wanna Be's".
If your going to call it Dancing With The Stars, then use more REAL stars. This has been my favorite show since it first aired.....every season I notice the quality of your "so called stars" are getting lower. I do believe I've watched my last show..Unless, you get some real stars.

Hi Sandra

Why not you go there and show 'em how to do it, report back to us. Seriously, do you REALLY think the show gives a rats behind if you don't watch it anymore?

If there are enough people who don't watch it because of the spectacularly inane group of "notables" that they have performing, they will give a rat's behind. It's all about ratings, and while Snooki may get adequate ratings for a cable network, her band of lobotomized fans are not going to provide enough viewers to make ABC, or their advertisers, content.

NO REALITY PEOPLE!!! The title of the show is Dancing with the *Stars*. Stick with the title and you'll have a lot more validity with DWTS fans. Reality tripe (nonsense, rubbish, drivel) are not stars. They are not even celebrities (even tho the press would have you believe that). They're just plain silly.

Hi Sandra

Oh please, lighten up, they are known to many people, have some fun in your life and watch the show, if for no other reason, have a laugh., its does wonders for uppity people.

I really want to see Steve Martin. Christopher Walken would be excellent, too, but he was a Broadway dancer, so he might not be considered amateur enough. Ted Danson might be good too.

I genuinely have never once heard of this person this time. Normally I say that jokingly, but who the hell is this?

Wonder if snooki will have to sign a stay sober agreement.

Between her drinking and the lack of a practice requirement, I'm hoping Snooki won't be around to ruin the show for long. We can only hope that a drunken fall tweaks her ankle beyond the point of immediate recovery, forcing an early end to her dancing career. Although we haven't been that lucky with her television career, I can but pray that her opportunity to drive a once enjoyable show into the shark tank is short-lived.

I think she is on the list, right after Charlie Sheen and George Lopez! :)

How about Sofia Vergara on DWTS? Try to have diversity to the show. Nope, I am not Hispanic to have suggested Sofia Vergara. For a guy, I want to see Dean Cain and who is that other not-so-young one? Ah, I can't get the name straight. Well he plays Richie Valens, the movie La Bamba. And Will Wheaton too. It's just refreshing way to watch the show with some genuinely and naturally good looking people..with no nips, tucks or lifts. The dancing pros are beautiful, male and female, so pair them up with equally beautiful celebrities..and that would make the show .....a real wow to watch. Never mind the dance steps, they are not dancing professionals, we, the audience can deal with that. Let them have two-left feet, we think that is still very cute! :-)

Those are some great suggestions Matilda. I wish they would listen to you and US and quit having those silly reality people (they're called stars??!!) on the show.

Who is Sofia Vergara? I don't think she'd be adding to the "celebrity" factor of the show. Are you talking about Lou Diamond Phillips? If so, I would not mind seeing him dance; I've seen him on a few shows in recent years and he still looks fantastic.

Sofia is the actress who plays Gloria on Modern Family. Gloria is married to Ed O'Neill's character Jay on the show. She has been nominated for several awards and is also currently appearing in a Diet Pepsi commercail among other things. She'd be a great choice, but I'm sure she's too busy working to appear on DWTS.
