Sarah Silverman Heading to NBC
Sarah Silverman has found a new home: NBC.According to Deadline, NBC has given Silverman's latest comedy project a put pilot commitment, meaning it'll face financial penalties if it doesn't air the show.
The project, based somewhat on Silverman's life, will star the comic as a woman adjusting to single life after ending a long-term committed relationship. Silverman is writing the single-camera comedy project with Dan Sterling and Jon Schroeder. The trio previously worked together on 'The Sarah Silverman Program.'
'The Sarah Silverman Program' ran for three seasons on Comedy Central before being canceled in 2010. Since then, Silverman has kept busy voicing a character on 'Bob's Burgers' and appearing on 'The Good Wife.'
'The Office' star Rainn Wilson tweeted his tongue-in-cheek congratulations to Silverman. "Yay @SarahKSilverman - you're joining our awesome, totally not-dysfunctional National Broadcasting Corporation!"
Silverman joins two other well-known female comedians at NBC. Whitney Cummings is starring in her own self-titled sitcom premiering in September, while Chelsea Handler is producing and co-starring in an adaptation of her best-selling book 'Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea' set to debut mid-season on the Peacock network.
Tell us: Do you think NBC is the right fit for the notoriously boundary-pushing Silverman?
