Louis C.K. Discusses 'Louie's' Success and His Dark Worldview on 'Conan' (VIDEO)

Season 2 of 'Louie' has pushed the boundaries of the type of comedy we're used to seeing on TV. The show is adept at finding the twisted hilarity in life's depressing situations: a bum getting hit by a truck, unrequited love, and reuniting with an old friend who's contemplating suicide have all served as fodder for the show's unique blend of drama and black humor.Louis C.K. was on 'Conan' last night, and talked about 'Louie's' success, its two Emmy nominations, and his bleak, hilarious worldview that permeates the entire show.
"I don't expect any of it to keep going. You can't ... I think life is pretty ... I don't think it's so awful, I don't think you should expect anything to go well, but the only thing you really have coming to after you're born is death," he said, remaining stubbornly skeptical that his hard-won success can last.
"But the world the way it is is better than it could be. There's war and there's murder, but not as much as there could be," he said, explaining the show's darkness. "There could be so much more. Like when I see a crowd of people at Disney Land or something, I'm like, how are they not killing each other all the time?"
Later in the clip, Louis also tells a funny story about saving his dog's life after she ate a chocolate bar. To save her from being poisoned, he had to feed her a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, and she's hated him ever since. There's no winning.
