A New Head of Household Changes Everything on 'Big Brother' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 22nd 2011 1:40AM
Daniele Donate, 'Big Brother 13'When we left the 'Big Brother' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS) house last Thursday, the remaining contestants were slipping and sliding across the backyard in an endurance competition to win the coveted Head of Household.

For the past three weeks, Daniele and her ally Kalia have held that title, and despite Dani's efforts to further her game, all they really managed to accomplish was the permanent eviction of Brendon.

But would her aggressive targeting of Brendon turn around and bite her now that Dani isn't even eligible to play in this week's HOH competition?

It took a few hours to get there, but Jeff won the competition and became the first male HOH. Does that mean a woman will win the Power of Veto? To this point in the game, women had won all of the HOHs, with men taking all the POVs. Maybe it's time to flip things around.

Jeff and Jordan voted with the house to eliminate Brendon in an attempt to look better to the remaining players, but with Jeff the HOH, they don't need to "play nice" anymore. He can get aggressive and play the game that he wanted to play. So of course the big fear was that he would go back to his "Power Couples" alliance.

Even with Brendon gone, if Jeff can get Shelly to play again with Rachel, they'll be in a powerful position come time for the vote. All he has to do is put up two of Dani's three-person alliance. It won't even matter how Adam votes if he can assure Shelly, Rachel and Jordan will vote how he wants.

I was as impressed as Jeff when Shelly came up to try and clear the air between her and Rachel. Rachel kept her mouth shut and her rolling eyes under control. This second burst of Brendon in the house really does seem to have helped settle her. I don't know what Brendon said to her, but I'm glad he did, as hysterical Rachel is one of the most annoying things on the planet.

But this spells trouble for Daniele, who'd been orchestrating a pretty solid game plan these past few weeks. She worked her wiles as best she could back into an allegiance with Jeff and Jordan, but it seems pretty evident that Jeff is doing to her what she did to Brendon. He nominated her allies Porsche and Kalia, leaving the option open of backdooring Daniele out of the house if either gets taken off the block.

Even if Daniele avoids getting eliminated this week, where can she turn next if one of her allies is gone? Adam isn't likely to start siding with her. Really, next week's HOH competition will likely determine how this game is going to play out right to the end.

If they're not all careful, Jordan, the most likable person in the house, is going to win again or the jury will give it to Jeff for taking control of the game with this week's decisions.
