Hugh Laurie Has a Plan to Even the Emmy Competition (VIDEO)

Hugh Laurie, 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson'Hugh Laurie and Craig Ferguson agreed on one thing when Laurie was on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS). Neither of them are too keen on the Emmys.

"I don't vote," Ferguson said. "It seem to me a cruel and unusual thing to do."

Laurie also took issue with the idea of comparing actors for completely different roles. "Unless you could get five actors to play the same role," he said. "Then you could have a competition."

So they started speculating who might go up alongside Laurie playing Dr. House. They started off with an obvious win for Laurie by choosing Andrew Dice Clay, But when Ferguson threw out John Goodman, Laurie faltered, thinking it was brilliant.

It would be brilliant to see other actor's interpretations of iconic roles like House, though it would never work in the context of a serious drama. How can we make this happen outside of 'Saturday Night Live' and other sketch comedy and late night shows?

Maybe 'House' could have a fantasy episode, where one of his subordinates hallucinates different actors stepping into the role of House. We think Goodman is an inspired idea, though we'd throw out Dice. Who would you cast as an alternate-House? We'd love to see John Noble, Edward James Olmos, Dennis Haysbert and Terry O'Quinn give it a go.
