Nancy Can't Decide, Her Marriage or Her Birds on 'Confessions: Animal Hoarding' (VIDEO)
It was a battle between a marriage and birds on 'Confessions: Animal Hoarding' (Wed., 9PM ET on Animal Planet). Nancy and Ed have been married a long time, but one thing has been taking up more and more of the space in their home. Nancy's pet family has grown to 250 birds. They're simply all over the house, flying from room to room, perching everywhere. They have cages, but even there, they're awfully crowded. And you know how well birds control where they go to the bathroom. The chaos and the mess was pushing Ed away, but Nancy wasn't sure what mattered to her more, the birds or her husband.
When Ed asked her point blank, "Do you care whether I'm happy or not?" she first avoided the question, and then simply said she refused to answer it. Of course, if we're talking about true hoarding, this was her sickness talking.
It was the fear of losing the very things which she'd already admitted gave her life meaning. How it came to be the birds instead of Ed is a different issue that needs to be worked on, but the good news is that by the end of the episode, she had chosen Ed and the health of their marriage.
She didn't get rid of all of the birds but trimming from 250 to 50 is a sign that his happiness does matter, and it was enough to keep Ed from feeling forced out of his own home by her flock.
