Nancy Can't Decide, Her Marriage or Her Birds on 'Confessions: Animal Hoarding' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 25th 2011 6:40AM
'Confessions: Animal Hoarding'It was a battle between a marriage and birds on 'Confessions: Animal Hoarding' (Wed., 9PM ET on Animal Planet). Nancy and Ed have been married a long time, but one thing has been taking up more and more of the space in their home. Nancy's pet family has grown to 250 birds.

They're simply all over the house, flying from room to room, perching everywhere. They have cages, but even there, they're awfully crowded. And you know how well birds control where they go to the bathroom. The chaos and the mess was pushing Ed away, but Nancy wasn't sure what mattered to her more, the birds or her husband.

When Ed asked her point blank, "Do you care whether I'm happy or not?" she first avoided the question, and then simply said she refused to answer it. Of course, if we're talking about true hoarding, this was her sickness talking.

It was the fear of losing the very things which she'd already admitted gave her life meaning. How it came to be the birds instead of Ed is a different issue that needs to be worked on, but the good news is that by the end of the episode, she had chosen Ed and the health of their marriage.

She didn't get rid of all of the birds but trimming from 250 to 50 is a sign that his happiness does matter, and it was enough to keep Ed from feeling forced out of his own home by her flock.

They have been married for a LONG time. If she's signed off to the marriage, then she should tell him so. If not, they both need to compromise. The part of the story that wasn't really shown is the counseling that took place, and the effort that Nancy actually put into the process once she swallowed her pride. They are now down to 50 birds, and are not letting them breed anymore - so eventually they will all die. What happens when there is 1 Man, 1 Woman and 0 birds will be the true testament to whether or not this marriage will stand the test of time. The scarey thing is, if the 1 Man wants 1 Woman, but she doesn't - will he move on without her?

Seems like this poor guy just needs to: "drop off the key Lee, and set yourself free".

Simply put, 250 birds inside any house is unreasonable. This woman's attitude is arrogant and unreasonable. She seems to be telling her husband if you don't like it, leave. If there is a city or county ordinance defining the maximum number of pets allowed in a single residence it might provide a way out for the husband. If there is not, were I he, I would leave.

I hope they figured out why she gravitated to her birds at first over her husband. Otherwise she made a choice that may end up causing her to get rid of the husband and go back to the birds again anyway. You don't nearly scrap a marriage for animals over just anything. There had to be an extremely traumatic event that precipitated that.

Plain and simple...she's a bird brain.
Think she's bad? Shoulda watched a little earlier...remember Heidi Fleiss? The Hollywood Madam...she's really taken a liking to birds. What a waste.

Ed it's painfully obvious, First it's about her, then it's about the birds and you're , well I don't see were you fit in , Try tying her up treating her rough and a good spanking , if that don't bring out the woman in her ,then she has no woman in there left to be had , and you should go find you a real functioning woman--!!! and get off the shelf she put you on-!!!!!
