'Punk'd' is Back! But Who's Behind the Hidden Camera Celebrity Pranks Now?

by Maggie Furlong, posted Aug 28th 2011 12:30PM
Justin Bieber & Taylor SwiftAshton Kutcher has a very high-profile new gig on 'Two and a Half Men,' but the celebrity prank show that helped put him on the map is making a comeback with someone else at the helm.

That's right: 'Punk'd' is back at MTV, according to Access Hollywood, and tween pop idol Justin Bieber is behind the elaborate hidden camera surprises for the first new episode.

Last year, rumor had it that Bieber was in talks to be the show's permanent new host, but now MTV is mixing things up, having a different celebrity act as host for each episode.

So who did the Biebs punk on Friday in Los Angeles for his episode? None other than his pal Taylor Swift, just days after he joined her on stage at her "Speak Now" tour stop in L.A. to perform a duet of his hit song 'Baby.'

We don't have any details on exactly what the prank was, but celebrities should officially be on their toes again knowing that if something seems to crazy to be real, it probably is -- and one of your famous friends is probably behind it.

Kutcher will still serve as executive producer for the hidden camera series, which he co-created with Jason Goldberg back in 2003. After eight seasons, 64 episodes and 137 celebrities 'Punk'd,' the show took an extended break after the Season 8 finale in May 2007. No word from MTV yet on when Season 9 will air.

Tell us: Who would you like to see get 'Punk'd'?

Punk Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Bruce Willis, Lady GaGa, then go for all the Jersey Shore freaks, and then the Kardashians, and why not hit ol; Gene Simmons, Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan, Nick Cannon, Beyonce. I mean c'mon...its not like the USA isn't chock full of "celebrities" that one can play a prank on. To name a few more: John Travolta, Kirstie Allie, Ralph Macchio or anyone who has every appeared on Dancing with the Stars, American Idol etc. Try whoppie goldberg, Oprah, Rosie O Donnel, Roseanne...whatever last name she's using now, Christina Aguilara, Blake Shelton, Carnie Wilson, etc ...Im of the opinion that if punkd wants to pull pranks on celebrities, then NO celebritiy should be immune...get em ALL!!

Like Candid Camera did long time ago shows like these ..take advantage of people's good nature ..... then later there are shows .. wondering why there aren't as many good natured people around ... a weakness of the Madison Avenue wanting to change a culture. want ot do private jokes on your buddies, fine. .. but don't waste airtime that could be better used to strengthen the country
