Does the New HOH Open Pandora's Box on 'Big Brother'? (VIDEO)

In the last episode of 'Big Brother' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS), Kalia won Head of Household, but it would prove to be a short-lived victory as the show was doing a special week's worth of 'BB' in an hour. It led to Porsche winning Power of Veto and Jeff getting evicted. But then, there was another HOH competition.!!SPOILER ALERT!!
This one utilized the snake balancing contraption they'd received earlier in the week. It was an interesting battle, with a first round to determine brackets, which saw Porsche toward the bottom and Jordan at the top. Then, you had to battle your way through the bracket. And it was here that Porsche really dominated, taking it from Jordan in the end.
Jordan and Rachel were emotional wrecks after the elimination of Jeff, and this made them downright inconsolable. But it's not Porsche Jordan was mad at. The two had been on opposite sides of the house for week snow. It was the feeling of betrayal she felt with Shelly flipping sides and voting to evict Jeff.
It was a little surprising seeing Jordan completely lose her cool like this, lashing out briefly at everyone before yelling at Shelly so intensely, it was Rachel of all people who pulled her into the Have-Not Room to try and calm her down and talk some sense into her. You know it's bad when Rachel is the voice of reason.
Of course, what Jordan needs to realize is that this is a game and getting rid of Jeff was absolutely the best thing for Shelly to do. Daniele was right in thinking that Jeff stood a real shot of winning the game over her if he made it to the end. It's a tough reality of these reality competition shows, but at some point you have to make a move for yourself, and rarely do alliances remain unbroken to the end.
Unfortunately, while the house was in disarray, no one was watching Porsche, and much like Pandora, she succumbed to temptation. Is $5,000 or $10,000 really worth risking something that might mess up your gameplay so close to the end? Last Thursday's episode turned everything around and gave the newbies control of the house.
She took the risk, and now her alliance is going to pay for it. You just have to wonder if this was a heavy-handed ploy by CBS to protect Jordan and Rachel. Apparently, they don't have faith in the newbies being able to sustain an audience. They instituted the vote-in return option the second a veteran was eliminated, and Brendon came right back. Now this on the heels of the next two vets getting booted.
What Porsche unleashed was a one-week return of the Couples twist. She didn't even get to choose the couples other than picking Kalia as her own partner., meaning Rachel and Jordan linked right up. Now, if she nominates them and one of them wins, they both come right off the block and Shelly and Adam automatically go up.
It's just a one-week reprieve, but if Rachel and Jordan stay alive another week, then it will be Shelly or Adam as the swing vote between two solid alliances. Adam has been in Jeff and Jordan's pocket pretty solid until this week, while Shelly's been swinging from alliance to alliance since Day One.
Next week's HOH will be the one that determines if the newbies or veterans come out triumphant in this game. If Porsche had resisted that temptation, though, it would already be a foregone conclusion that Rachel or Jordan go next. I guess it makes things more interesting.
!!LIVE FEEDS SPOILER ALERT!!
Fans of the live feeds already know that the worst case scenario for Porsche and Kalia has already happened. Rachel won the Power of Veto and removed herself from the block. So now it will definitely be Adam or Shelly leaving the house. Jordan and Rachel are sure to vote for Shelly, which makes next week's competitions even more critical for the newbies to win.
