As always, the 'MTV Video Music Awards' (Sun., 9PM ET on MTV) was a spectacle of sight and sound, filled with the hottest faces and voices in popular music. Jay-Z and Kany West lit up the stage with a duet, while Mrs. Jay-Z, Beyonce, performed and revealed that the couple was expecting.Lady Gaga presented yet another crazy costume, only this time the craziest thing about it was that she was portraying a man -- her own lover, no less. She stayed in character to present Britney Spears with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, where the pair almost kissed, but Spears said, "I've done that already."
In the category of random, you had Rebecca Black in a dinosaur costume, and the Beastie Boys from the future (Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Jack Black) showing that they've still got it in any era. It was a memorable night of celebration and victory, with the industry taking a moment to remember and mourn the loss of Amy Winehouse as well.
The women dominated the night, coming out with 12 of the 15 total awards. Multi-award winners include Katy Perry, who took home trophies for both 'Firework' and 'E.T.' and Lady Gaga, who gathered two trophies for 'Born This Way.'
Despite being shut out of all the major categories, Adele came out on top in total wins, taking home four VMAs for her video to 'Rolling in the Deep.'
Only Tyler the Creator, Justin Bieber and Foo Fighters broke up the women's dominance, with an assist by Kanye West for being featured in a woman's winning video, Katy Perry's 'E.T.'
