'Quirky' Series Premiere Brings Inventions to Life, Just Like the Website (VIDEO)

Quirky.com was founded by Ben Haufman as a conglomerate of idea people that come together online to help develop invention and turn them into reality. The business model sees two inventions come to fruition each week, so Sundance decided it was all ready tailor-made for an uplifting TV series. Enter 'Quirky' (Tue., 10PM ET on Sundance). Each week, viewers will get to watch as two inventions go from idea to reality, and even get to see how successful the product launches have been for the inventions.
The premiere spotlighted the bendable power strip, Pivot Power, and a new approach to straining food, which was concocted by a middle-class mom.
We got to witness her delight in seeing the finished product only three weeks after she'd submitted the initial idea. They gave it a test run in her kitchen and it worked exactly as advertised. Even better, the Ventu strainer is now available for purchase. Maybe the series will inspire the next great invention.
