'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Season 2: Suicide Won't Delay Premiere
'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Season 2 will premiere as planned on Mon., Sept. 5 at 9PM on Bravo. The network confirmed the news after weeks of debate about a possible delay following the suicide of series star Taylor Armstrong's estranged husband Russell.
"Bravo will proceed with the Monday, September 5 premiere date of 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,'" Frances Berwick, president of Bravo Media, said in a statement. "Given that these episodes were filmed months ago, the producers of the show taped a brief interview this week with several of the cast members to introduce the premiere."
Taylor did not participate in the taped introduction.
Reports of a special suicide episode are a tad overblown, as the segment will only be a few minutes. The network is also working with a suicide prevention group to have public service announcements air during the show.
"Re-editing of the episodes is still underway," Berwick said." Bravo has partnered with the Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. to raise awareness about suicide prevention. The network will air various PSA's during the 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.' We will also provide additional information and resources on Bravotv.com, including the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline."
While the network won't be delaying the premiere in the wake of Armstrong's suicide, Bravo will re-edit some of the season which features Russell and Taylor's crumbling marriage. In an early Season 2 trailer, Taylor is seen on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
"Our thoughts continue to be with the Armstrong family during this difficult time," Berwick said.
