'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Season 2: Suicide Won't Delay Premiere

by Chris Harnick, posted Aug 31st 2011 10:19AM
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Season 2 will premiere as planned on Mon., Sept. 5 at 9PM on Bravo.

The network confirmed the news after weeks of debate about a possible delay following the suicide of series star Taylor Armstrong's estranged husband Russell.

"Bravo will proceed with the Monday, September 5 premiere date of 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,'" Frances Berwick, president of Bravo Media, said in a statement. "Given that these episodes were filmed months ago, the producers of the show taped a brief interview this week with several of the cast members to introduce the premiere."

Taylor did not participate in the taped introduction.

Reports of a special suicide episode
are a tad overblown, as the segment will only be a few minutes. The network is also working with a suicide prevention group to have public service announcements air during the show.

"Re-editing of the episodes is still underway," Berwick said." Bravo has partnered with the Entertainment Industries Council, Inc. to raise awareness about suicide prevention. The network will air various PSA's during the 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.' We will also provide additional information and resources on Bravotv.com, including the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline."

While the network won't be delaying the premiere in the wake of Armstrong's suicide, Bravo will re-edit some of the season which features Russell and Taylor's crumbling marriage. In an early Season 2 trailer, Taylor is seen on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

"Our thoughts continue to be with the Armstrong family during this difficult time," Berwick said.

They shouldn't re-edit the show. We saw what a jerk he was last season so they shouldn't make him look like he was better this time, just because he's dead now.

This show needs to b canceled..........it's pure junk and Bravo should be ashamed. Maybe next time somebody can be murdered and you can film that for ratings too. How low will you sink????

This show should never have been re-edited. Russell Taylor signed up before he signed out.

This is a reality show.....show it all and don't cut or edit out what happened before his suicide. Its real life and spousal abuse and suicide are all part of it. By whitewashing it or deleting the 'sad parts' does the family an injustice, since there were problems that need to be addressed.
Afterall, they did all sign contracts releasing whats shown.
