On 'Russian Dolls,' Lifetime gives the scandal-driven reality treatment to Brooklyn's Russian-American community in Brighton Beach. That means lots of fighting, especially on one particular upcoming episode, Marina Levitis said on 'Good Day New York' (weekdays, 9AM ET on Fox). And that doesn't make everyone in Brighton Beach very happy."It's gonna be a very big fight," Levitis promised. "We're talking about, not physical, but almost. Very big argument, over money, over business. Very real. And this argument to this day is not resolved. We still don't speak."
Levitis owns Rasputin, a Brighton Beach facility that includes a night club, cabaret, and restaurant. Some in the Brighton Beach community, she said, took issue with the show before it came out, something she attributes to leftover fear from the communist era.
"It's an old mentality but we're a new generation," she said, defending the show. "We're Americanized, and we want to be out there, we want to put our community on the map. Let everybody come to Brighton Beach and enjoy our restaurants, enjoy our beautiful women, our beautiful stores. We have a lot to offer, so, welcome." But if a fight breaks out, try not to get in the way.
