Kathie Lee & Hoda Discuss Cher's Twitter Defense of Chaz's 'DWTS' Gig (VIDEO)

Casting Chaz Bono in 'Dancing With the Stars' has apparently besmirched the dignity of a reality TV competition to some people, enough that Cher felt the need to take to Twitter to protect her son. Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb read Cher's Tweet on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) and discussed their thoughts about Bono's appearance. After reading a lot of hateful commentary from Internet commenters about Chaz's appearance, Cher tweeted, "bet VAST MAJORITY of People will LOVE CHAZ on DWTS ! & it's took (expletive) Guts 2! Chaz isn't exactly the 'Gotta Dance Gotta Dance' kina Guy."
In response to any controversy, Gifford said the show shouldn't make a big deal about Bono's gender change, for his sake and for the sake of children who might be watching. "It's in the past," she said. "He is who he is now. Let him be. Let him compete. And if they don't make anything about it, then parents are not going to have to talk to their children about it." Along those same lines, they may not want to mention Rob Kardashian's family, Kristin Cavallari's reality show career, or David Arquette's movies.
