'Lost Girl' Star Anna Silk Teases With Season 2 Tidbits

by Annette Bourdeau, posted Sep 1st 2011 3:40PM
September just got a whole lot sexier. Last fall's hit 'Lost Girl' is set to return to the small screen this week, and this time around we get double the succubus action. Season 1 was so popular, Season 2 is going to be almost twice as long with a gratifying 22 episodes.

The alluring fantasy show about a sexy succubus named Bo (Anna Silk) has made waves across the globe, even though Season 1 only aired in Canada. At one point, it was among the top 10 illegally downloaded shows in the world, demonstrating that Bo's powers of seduction transcend cultural differences. Our friends south of the border will get to start watching Season 1 in January, when 'Lost Girl' will begin airing on SyFy.

In Season 2, Bo is becoming more adept at reining in her succubus powers, and she's learning how to navigate the fae politics with a tad more finesse. She still has BFF Kenzi (Ksenia Solo) by her side, and she's still torn between two lovers, Dyson (Kris Holden-Reid) and Lauren (Zoie Palmer). But that doesn't mean all is status quo in this complex fae underworld. We caught up with the delightful Silk to get all the delicious details.

What can we expect from Season 2?
Audiences will definitely see a much stronger, more confident Bo because of how much she learned from the first season. She's got to be a little bit smarter this season and learn how to work the political system of the fae to her advantage. Bo has also realized a sense of accountability for her actions, and has to be more cautious because she knows there are consequences to her actions and wants to protect the people she loves around her.

Will we be seeing more of Bo's mother?
It's funny, because people ask me that but I can't really say for sure! [Laughs] It's something that Bo still searches for, but it's not the same focus. At least up until this point.

Which episode are you filming now?
We just finished our 9th episode out of 22.

Will SyFy air Season 1 first, or jump right into Season 2?
They're going to be running Season 1 first I believe, and I think that will start in January. I know a lot of people will see most of Season 2 by then, but there's a whole new audience in the U.S. that hasn't seen it yet. As far as I know we're slated to start in January.

Americans will have to wait.
They will! We just got back from Comic-Con in San Diego, and the fan response there was pretty amazing. A lot of people have seen it already and are really excited.

Were there a lot of Canadians at Comic-Con? Or were they Americans, and if so how did they hear about the show?
I think it was last year that we were number 9 on the top 10 illegally downloaded shows on the internet. We were actually ahead of 'True Blood,' which was number 10. People are getting access to this show through different means. They're seeing it and they're responding. I think at Comic-Con most people were American.

Were there any Bos at Comic-Con?
I didn't see any! Maybe next year, once we air there.

Did you get star-struck at all?
Lucy Lawless was at a party, it was pretty cool to see her. She looks amazing!

Back to Season 2. How has Bo's relationship with Dyson changed since Season 1?
At the end of Season 1, Dyson gives a lot up. Season 2 picks up shortly after. There's been a bit of time that's passed, and that has certainly had an effect on Bo. Bo has to figure out early on in the season what the heck is going on with Dyson, and the relationship definitely takes some turns from there. I don't want to give it away!

What about Lauren? Will we be seeing more of her?
You will definitely be seeing more of her. It's kind of a similar situation. That relationship has some challenges that come up in Season 2 that weren't there in Season 1. It's certainly an interesting time.

Any other love interests?
It's mostly just the two of them. There's definitely other things on the horizon.

What's your favorite part about playing a succubus?
It's a really fun power to have. It's great, guest stars come to the show and they're just like putty in my hands, basically! [Laughs] And I like that! It's definitely a fun power.

Have you been surprised by how fans have reacted to the show?
Yes and no. While we were making it we knew it was unique, but you never know what the fan response will be. It was really cool for us to walk into this room at Comic-Con and just hear screaming. I was like oh my God, they're screaming for us! It was amazing. It was really pretty exciting. I know there's a lot of people online that discuss the show. I just like that people care about it. I like that people can be critical of it, too, in a smart way, just because they care.

I noticed on your Facebook page that you seem to have a lot of international fans. Did that surprise you?
Yes! That's part of why it's a popular downloaded show, people are watching it all over. There are a lot of people that care a lot about the Lauren and Bo relationship, which I think is really cool because you don't often see that type of relationship on TV depicted in this way. I mean, obviously not -- a succubus and a human doctor! [Laughs]

Is there anything else you think fans would be interested in hearing?
Gosh, what can I say? I have a lot to say! I don't think fans will be disappointed in terms of where we left things hanging in Season 1. We've been really excited about the scripts this season. I think fans will be really excited by what they see.

Season 2 of 'Lost Girl' premieres Sunday, September 4 on Showcase at 9PM ET/PT.
