September 2011 Calendar of Premieres, Specials and Finales

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 1st 2011 1:00PM
'Two and a Half Men' / 'Entourage' / 'The X-Factor'
When it comes to broadcast television, this is the month the networks have been working toward all year. We've been getting slammed with ads for the fall fare on the big five networks all summer, and now it's time for them to put up or shut up. So what's in store?

You've got big name returns like Sarah Michelle Gellar ('Ringer'), Tim Allen ('Last Man Standing') and the dynamic duo of Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell on 'The X-Factor.' Then there's the much-anticipated premiere of the newly rebooted 'Two and a Half Men,' with Charlie Sheen out and Ashton Kutcher in. Check out the rest of the new shows, not to mention all of your returning favorites, below.

To make room for all this great new fare the networks are hoping you'll be lining up to watch, your favorite summer reality and cable shows are taking a breather. That means crowning winners for 'America's Got Talent' and 'Big Brother,' and saying goodbye to cable shows like 'The Closer,' 'The Secret Life of the American Teenager' and 'Burn Notice.' Don't worry -- the latter shows will be back this winter, but it's a final farewell to shows like 'Rescue Me' and 'Entourage,' as well as some reality stars like Kate Gosselin ('Kate Plus 8') and Kat Von D ('LA Ink').

Since we know you won't want to miss a minute of it, you're best bet is to bookmark this page so you can reference all the big premieres, specials and finales throughout September.

Man, I know it's the tenth anniversary but there just seems to be waaaaaaaay too many 9/11 specials. The number of "specials" competing for viewers is a little creepy/gross imo. [shrug]

Where was Sarah Michelle Gellar's show? Thought it started Sept. 20 on the CW.
